Living the American dream…a la Miami Vice… (With a bit of dizziness)

31 Dec

Hello everyone,

What a long and amazing day we had today! Been boating from Ft Lauderdale to South Beach on my husband’s boat…I’m still scared of the speed because I feel dizzy when the jump out of the water…but it was good, perfect sunshine, not too hot, not too cold…just great!

But shall I step back 24hours? Last night we went to our favourite local restaurant, Barceloneta in Purdy Avenue and the dinner was too good to be true! Gazpacho bloody mary, chorizo cooked in cider, langoustine in chocolate and tomatoes, risotto with sausage and mushrooms…and probably something else…Oh my I’m going to be so fat when we go back home! Stopped in Publix for a few bits and off to sleep, the jet lag is still affecting us a lot!

So Today it was a Donzi day, left the rental car and we got the boat…it was so good drive around South Beach and going up at down (at maximum speed 69 miles per hours…it was too bumpy if it was quicker for me!), and it was great see so close what I normally see from the balcony, downtown, the obelisk…we love Miami so much!!!!

Well. It’s the 30th December, at least here with the Eastern Time…so…if I don’t post tomorrow, happy New Year to everyone!!!!

With love

So close to Christmas that I still cannot believe, everyone is still running around to get the last minute presents for friends, family, ect, I witnessed to this yesterday afternoon walking along Via Venti Settembre (street 20th September, Bergamo), it was so busy , but people are brave, facing the cold and walking up and down with lots of bags!

On my way back I stopped to my aunt floral shop, transformed for the festive season in a winter wonderland…I love it!

You can even see my mum in the background 🙂

And what better than a massive cup of tea to finish off my wonderful day on a winter wonderland?

18 Dec

Hello everyone,

Just back from a lovely weekend spent with friends in Canterbury (Kent), based on lots of drinking and lots of fun with friends!!!

Still feeling a bit messed up, that’s why I’m reading on the Daily Mail online the best solutions to cure the hangover…they suggest cheese sandwich, tomato juice, honey on toast and bananas…I’m off to throw up!!!

I’ll show you my weekend in pictures, I hope everyone had a great weekend….and I can’t believe it’s only a week till Christmas!!!
The weekend started on Saturday morning with a full english breakfast at the Ditchling tea room, lovely!!

Dinner in Canterbury with friends, and after off to the Ballroom for some fun

Some girls  don’t have any class…decorated ugg boots!

Sunday morning…meeting everyone for another full english breakfast and off to see Sarah’s cupcake shop!!!

And off we went, back home, enjoying the fire in the living room…thinking about a take away curry for dinner to cure the hangover…AM I TURNING BRITISH??? PLEASE NOOOO!!! xxxx

Keep calm and carry on style frames…crazy in love for it!!!

17 Dec

Keep calm and carry on. So inspirational, and so pretty in so many different colours and in so many different designs. A massive thing around England, and I love it.

But yesterday I found something even prettier than these slogans, walking around the shops in Brighton in a shop I love called England at Home  I found the local “keep calm style” frames about the towns around Brighton area, and of course I bought one for us to bring to Miami, just to remember where we live:

Brighton rocks

Ditchling, common? Town just around the corner

Hove, actually

Eastbourne to be wild

This is the one I got for us!!

They even do costumized ones, as you can find out on the website

Not in the high street

What about a donkey frame? My husband calls me donkey in such a lovely way, I might find this frame between my Christmas present!

In the meantime,  you can listen to the Christmas donkey song, thinking about me!

Have a good weekend!

Everyone loves some early Christmas presents!

16 Dec

It’s Thursday the 15th December (well it’s actually the 16th when everyone will read this post), 10 days to Christmas, and the town is desert, how crazy is that? I spent 5 hours in office without take my lunch break so I could go out earlier to meet up with my husband to finish off some unfinished business…the latest Christmas presents for the family!!

I can’t believe that Brighton was so empty today around the shops in the lanes, ok the credit crunch, the recession, the Eurozone, Italian economy going downhill like Greece…but come on it’s Christmas it happens just once a year! Make the people you love happy and make the retailers even happier! I love my husband so much: he’s loving, caring, and with an amazing taste (he cannot be British I swear!!!) today I got my Christmas present from him, a gorgeous pair of dark brown leather and fur All Saints boots…when my best friend Anna will see them she will collapse!!

Love to get Christmas presents before Christmas; it makes me feel so excited! I cannot reveal the Christmas present I got for my hubby for obvious reasons (he reads my blog) but I tell you they will be LV related, can’t say anything else! Last night I got some more early Christmas presents from my mother in law, love the selection of different teas, the mini rose champagne, the pink truffles, the Cowshed products…oh my I’m like a child on Christmas day, but I’m not a child anymore, and it’s not Christmas yet!!!

It has been two weeks since we met up for dinner with our friends Joe and Becky when the invited us over for a lovely homemade dinner, I have just been so busy that I didn’t have the time to post the pictures yet! Joe…your Thai green curry was good, but your baileys cheesecake as out of this world!!!

Happy Friday to everyone!

10 reasons why I’m not British and I probably never will

10 Dec

I don’t mean to offend anyone or to upset anyone, please do not take this post in the wrong way.

I have been living in England for 3 years and there are still so many things that make me so different from British girls, the ones I see walking up and down the high street…just take it like

The vision of an Italian grumpy cow about Britain…

10 reasons why I’m not British and I probably never will

1. I don’t stand outside a pub at 5PM on a Friday in December drinking lager, smoking a rolled up cigarette, wearing tracksuit and a vest, when it’s only 4degrees C (or 39 degrees F )

2. I don’t go out on Friday or Saturday night during the winter wearing only a Lipsy dress with a clutch bag and peep toe shoes (my outfit could be more likely to be jeans, leggings underneath, socks, another pair of socks, long sleeve t-shirt, jumper, jacket, scarf, and I will be still so brave to claim I’m cold!) See the daily mail article (http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-2067391/Why-DO-young-women-dressed-like-We-meet-nightclubbers-unsettling-answer.html)

3. I’d rather go for a sun bed sometimes and risk being wrinkly by 30, but I will never go for a spray tan! It stinks, it makes you look orange and plus after you have it done you cannot have a shower for 24 hours to get the colour to settle…it stinks to me!

4. I still don’t get the passion for Indian food or Chinese food, both mess up my stomach a lot!

5. I don’t think beans, cheese or whatever you like, followed by On toast, can be considered a meal!

6. Don’t get why until 18 years old people cannot drink, I started at 14 and by 18 I was bored to! It could save so many lives have a better drinking education, not wait to be 18 and get wasted every weekend throwing up everywhere in the high street outside clubs, thinking about East street in Brighton on a Friday night…

7. I don’t want to go clubbing in London, for god’s sake why all the clubs are on the basement?!? Claustrophobia rules my life!

8. I do not shop in Topshop! British sizes don’t fit me properly, different body shape from Italians and British girls, and luckily I’m not 11stone like the average Brits (from a recent survey, all my British friends are thin and glamorous)

9. I like to shop in Primark, just picking up the right bits to mix with designer accessories… I do not fill up the basket with all the crap just because it’s so cheap!

10. I hate leggings…as you all know from one of my previous post!

That’s why I’m LOUD AND PROUD to be Italian, with my pros and cons!!

An ordinary Thursday evening at home…ended in tears!

9 Dec

Food, food, food. It’s all I can think about after 6pm.

Luckily I’m thin and I have a fast metabolism, because I eat so much I should be 20kilos more!

Inspired by the cold and windy weather across the country, I fancied something hot and healthy, that’s why my food processor sometimes is my best friend! A few courgettes, green peas and lots of basil, mix all up and cook it slowly for 30 minutes, here we are my hot soup has been made! (Surely it’s much better than crisps, olives and peanuts as a starter…I take care of my husband’s health!)

After that, inspired by the pub dinner of the night before, I fancied chorizo, and caramelized onions, and spaghetti of course! Just adding some tomatoes and red vinegar, the dinner was so good!

That’s why I rock in the kitchen…Nigella move over please!!!

Just kidding of course…I’m creative, I don’t follow recipes, I have to add my own touch everything I do, and I haven’t done wrong so far, plus it’s a satisfaction hear that having dinner with me is always an adventure!!

My evening ended in tears not because something went wrong, sorry to make people worrying just to read the title of my post, I wanted to watch my favourite childhood movie, Edward Scissorhands, and it made me cry so much! Sorry, I’m a foodie, a softy, and a big kid!!!!

Have a good Friday you all…not long till Christmas!
