A very warm weekend is over, feeling depraved of an hour of my life!

26 Mar

It was a lovely and warm weekend in the countryside, I couldn’t believe my luck of being sat on one of the chairs I have been working on for the past few days in the garden! I have been doing gardening recently, can you believe it, I still struggle myself! The garden furniture are looking brand new after my jet washing, sanding and oiling…shame that doing that I broke a pot!! Shall we see some pictures? Why not!

poor pot…rip

experimenting new flavors, beetroot and creme fraiche soup

3 mushrooms risotto and peas…mmmm

Friday afternoon driving down to Brighton, horrible sea mist

Saturday night down to Canterbury for dinner…interesting toilets!

I have always known I am fiery!

Driving around the countryside on a Sunny Sunday

and what can be better than a few drinks in the sun and a pub lunch?

Weekend…shall we just make the most of it? Yeah!

10 Feb

Woke up with the snow, had lunch overlooking the sunny garden, went for a sunbed…tried to make a raspberry cheesecake but I think I failed…what a day! I know that I don’t do much during the week anymore but I am really looking forward the weekend, I fancy going out, go for dinner (strange, am I obsessed about food? Not really) plus Valentine’s day is just a few days away, my best friends are coming over on Sunday so I’m going to meet up with them next week plus next Thursday I’ll go back to Italy for four days.. I have so much to look forward to please snow don’t mess up my plans!

Really looking forward an aperitif in half an hour, bring it on!

By the way I have a very clean car right now..thanks husband! 🙂

I got a bit lazy last night I must admit that, just made a soup, carrot and ginger and some grilled aubergines…plus the lasagne that I made two days ago….I’m going to cook more tonight!

Shall we…just enjoy the weekend? Have a great one!

Anna in her wonderland the domestic goddess? I’d love to please!!!

According to the stats on my WordPress dashboard, looks like I’m doing pretty well when I talk about food and I post my dishes: I am pleased with this good result. Never wanted to run a fashion blog (as if I know something about fashion but … if someone wants to sponsor my shopping trip I can change my mind quite easily!!), the Moaning tag in the topic’s section hasn’t been created yet, so let’s just run day by day with what crosses my mind.

As you can all tell so far, I love to be at home and work from here, it makes me organized and it gives me the freedom to arrange my day as I wish plus it gives me lots of time for the gym and the cooking.

After nearly four days of ibuprofen I’m getting a bit better and after an healthy lunch I went to the gym after nearly a week this afternoon…only doing exercises for my legs and relaxing in the Jacuzzi afterwards, amazing!

Back home, time to use skype and having a cup of tea, an apple and a Lindor chocolate…I burnt 180 calories in half an hour so please allow me!

Going one step back I’d like to show you what I prepared for dinner last night.

Starters

Tomato and green pea soup.

Main course

Salmon fillets with crème fraiche cheese topped with breadcrumbs and lemon zest, roasted garlic potatoes and soy sauce and sesame mangetout.

Dessert…nothing I’m afraid, just a cup of tea and some chocolate (I’m not that good at baking I have to practise more!)

What’s up for tonight? I’ll keep you posted and I wish an amazing evening to everyone!

PS: Do you think I’m going to receive this on Valentine’s Day? 😉

Cold weather, I’m bored, so why not think about food? As if I never think about food! Turning into a foodie in the wonderland

8 Feb

I must say I have started to enjoy so much the food section on WordPress, it makes me hungry just looking at and I keep on going, blog from blog…what is it wrong with me? Is it an Italian thing, am I getting old or what? I used to laugh at my parents and their friends when I was young and we were going in holiday in Liguria (homeland of Pesto), the town where we have our apartment has a nice high street promenade with designer shops and lots of deli (gastronomia), cheese shops, spit chicken roast shop (polleria), take away pizza slice (pizza al trancio) and even more shops that probably I forgot they exist, in the afternoon we used to go shopping and every food shop I had to shout to my parents and their friends “Come on How can you stare at food in a window?? Let’s go to see some shoes!”

But during the summer 2010 my world felt like it was turning upside down: I went back there  with my husband and walking around the shops, we did the same thing my parents and their friends were doing ages ago…staring at the deli’s window! So because I mentioned, I’d like to bring back some memories from that holiday.

Must be an Italian thing, must be a British thing I don’t know…but I cannot think about nothing else than: What shall I cook? Or shall we watch Masterchef, or Jamie Oliver, or Gordon Ramsay or Lorraine Pascale?

So, let’s face it, it’s freezing today and not even a bit of sunshine to light up  this Wednesday, zero degrees or 32 F…and not much going on, so shall I show you my latest creations? Why not?

Green soup from last night (courgette, green peas, cucumber and lemon thyme

My traditional lasagne (with a bit of chorizo in the meat to give that right kick)

And today for lunch, I fancied omelette, first one I make in my life…I didn’t look good but I assure you it was tasty (omelette with cheddar cheese, chorizo and tomatoes)

Feeling full now…cuddling up with my blanket on the sofa, cup of tea on the table…and looking at the wordpress food section…love being at home!

I’m sorry if I’m not so cheerful sometimes, I hope I am not upsetting someone! Another day in my wonderland of muscular pain

7 Feb

According to my husband, the post I wrote yesterday was funny but he asked me to write a more cheerful one today…I cannot control my mood swings I’m afraid, I just write following how I feel day by day (I don’t even have pms right now so I don’t know what he means…)!

By the way I’m not very cheerful today, I thought joining the gym was going to makes me happy and fit…well had the moment unfortunately it gave me only muscular pain in chest and back, so from today on my menu I will have lots of ibuprofen (3 times a day) for at least five days, and no exercise at the gym for my arms … thanks bloody rowing machine!

So that’s why I am drinking my sorrows away with Ceylon tea and ibuprofen all day…thanks!

The only consolation is my cooking is getting better and better apparently, last night I made a mushrooms, tomatoes and cheddar soup and it was very successful, what’s on the menu tonight?

While I work from my desk upstairs I thought about…lasagne! And of course when you propose to someone: Shall we eat pasta tonight or shall I cook lasagne? I can see the shape of lasagne in my husband’s eyes like Scrooge Mcduck….by the way Paperon de Paperoni in Italian sounds better!!!

So…let’s go again to the supermarket then!

By the way…I cannot get rid of this song from my brain today…I know I don’t agree with toyboys as you have already discovered while reading my blog, but I do love boybands! Here we are with…

Cause you’ve got that one thing

So get out, get out, get out of my head
And fall into my arms instead
I don’t, I don’t, don’t know what it is
But I need that one thing…silly me!!!

An ordinary Thursday evening at home…ended in tears!

9 Dec

Food, food, food. It’s all I can think about after 6pm.

Luckily I’m thin and I have a fast metabolism, because I eat so much I should be 20kilos more!

Inspired by the cold and windy weather across the country, I fancied something hot and healthy, that’s why my food processor sometimes is my best friend! A few courgettes, green peas and lots of basil, mix all up and cook it slowly for 30 minutes, here we are my hot soup has been made! (Surely it’s much better than crisps, olives and peanuts as a starter…I take care of my husband’s health!)

After that, inspired by the pub dinner of the night before, I fancied chorizo, and caramelized onions, and spaghetti of course! Just adding some tomatoes and red vinegar, the dinner was so good!

That’s why I rock in the kitchen…Nigella move over please!!!

Just kidding of course…I’m creative, I don’t follow recipes, I have to add my own touch everything I do, and I haven’t done wrong so far, plus it’s a satisfaction hear that having dinner with me is always an adventure!!

My evening ended in tears not because something went wrong, sorry to make people worrying just to read the title of my post, I wanted to watch my favourite childhood movie, Edward Scissorhands, and it made me cry so much! Sorry, I’m a foodie, a softy, and a big kid!!!!

Have a good Friday you all…not long till Christmas!
