My Italian week is over and I feel it! Bergamo and Milano in my heart and soul, but now I can enjoy the British Summer down in Albion!

Milano duomo

Dear readers

I had such a lovely week back home to visit my family and friends that when on Friday I was about to leave I felt tears coming down, I have been living abroad for nearly five years and I have never struggled to leave so much like this time! Anyway, I am back home with my husband and my gorgeous dog, finally summer has arrived in the Kingdom so I am enjoying long sessions in the garden, walking around town and I have to start to kick my own ass at the gym if I want to see some good results…and to get rid of the hangover caused by the weekend!

I am so pleased with myself today, my freelance collaboration with Spanish Mag Flic Magazine is going well and what a coincidence, in this issue Anna in Her wonderland talks Milano… you can find the link here!

Anna in her wonderland

Friday night in Milan town but what can you do to escape from the heat wave? Italian Riviera here I come! Milan to London, London to Miami and Miami to Bahamas, just to keep myself busy!!

18 Jun

I have enjoyed so much these few days I have spent back home with my family and friends, summer has finally come in the north of Italy and you do feel the heat, a lot! Friday night I travelled to Milan on the train and underground and when I arrived at destination I was covered in sweat!

Friday night we were in Milan in the Navigli area, so cool with so many bars and restaurants and so many people around … trouble is when you wake up on Saturday morning and you see the same area of town completely empty and when you realised that is 10.30am and it’s already 28degrees (or 82.4 F) you understand that it’s time to GET OUT OF HERE!!!

The quick way to escape is to take the motorway, Genova direction and in two hours you are on the seaside, Genova, Recco, Sori, Portofino, Camogli, Chiavari, Sestri Levante….God bless Liguria and its fabulous characteristics!

I spent every single summer of my childhood here with my family, relatives and cousins, and going back there in this gorgeous little town called Sori made me fell in love again for this beautiful part of my country, I have one more kilo on today but I don’t care, how can you not eat fresh fish, trofie al pesto and the amazing Focaccia made in Liguria? You must be crazy!!! Came back last night , just packing my stuff, back to London in a few hours and off we go to Miami tomorrow morning! I missed my husband like crazy but I really enjoyed the time away as well!

Pizza, pasta and mandolino….say whatever you like about the Italians but I do love my own country, glad to be back to enjoy family and friends!

Hello readers,

I flew back home on Tuesday to find that the sun was shining when the plane landed and to see Milan in a sunny and warm day straight away made me even happier to be back home, a well-deserved few days at home can make everyone feeling better.

Nothing better than spend some time with my family, see my gorgeous niece turned fashionista already (you can see in the pictures soon), eat well, drink well and hopefully not putting too much unwanted weight on, but anyway, la mamma e’ sempre la mamma and you can never say no to her cooking!

Landing in sunny Milan

My niece discovered already that she likes Louis Vuitton…and the Louis Vuitton balls attached to my bag!

Memories of my childhood, I love chestnut jam but I cannot find it in UK!

I found hello kitty bubbles in my room for my niece and I couldn’t just leave it! (bolle di sapone for the Italian readers)

Storm was coming on our way to the shopping center…

Nothing can beat an Italian ice cream after some retail therapy

All done! New bikini ready for Miami and Bahamas and some sun cream!

I do feel a bit like a teenager again…I’m obsessed with Vans shoes!!!

Our big fat Easter weekend, in Italy! Milano, Bergamo, Lecco, Lake Como…the only ways!

11 Apr

I am really sorry I haven’t blogged for so many days and I apologise for that. After a long Italian weekend spent with my family in Italy we are now back in England, or shall I say wonderland? I can see so many rabbits around the garden that I have started to think if I follow one I will arrive in wonderland…one cute one yesterday was staring at me close to the front door…FOLLOW ME!

Going back to the Italian weekend…it was great, so much love from my family, so much good times, so many beautiful places and so much food!!!! Have a look through the pictures….and enjoy your week!

Left on good Friday, enjoying the lounge at the airport

Saturday shopping in Milan

Saturday night, aperitif in Lecco overlooking the Lake Como and Dinner on the lake (Oliveto Lario)

Easter Day, in my town with my parents

Ate too much but we couldn’t resist to a pizza in Bergamo!

Forgot to mention, we went to see the wedding photographer…have you seen in the window?

Easter monday, or Pasquetta, out for lunch with the family, uncles, aunt, cousins, red wine and lots of food again!

So what now? WE ARE ON A DIET!!!

Simplicity, memories and love: the best mix for your food, wherever you are.

28 Mar

In the last few days probably still due to the jet lag I was struggling to fall asleep at night, lots of things were going through my mind and I thought about a few things I miss. I miss my family, I miss Milan, the city where I studied for 3 years during my time at the university, miss the sunshine, miss an afternoon snack, miss a slice of pizza while walking around the shops in town….so as you can imagine I am homesick, most of the time.

Maybe for this reason I started to look for traditional Italian flavour, very simple basic things that can make me feel more at home, some example?

Pane e mortadella – bread and large Italian cold sausage, it used to be an afternoon snack (or nearly a meal) during an afternoon of playing around with friends at the playground (as you can see my mind really went back more than 20 years ago)

My re interpretation of this amazing but basic meal? Pane, mortadella, cheddar cheese, salad…overlooking the fields, it made me feel like a kid again.

British people and American people have on their basic Mac & Cheese…discussable anyway because I am a proud Italian and I always like to make an argument over everything (that’s me unfortunately!). A basic Italian recipe to hit back? Gnocchi with gorgonzola and noci – gnocchi with gorgonzola cheese and walnuts, classic, quick and so tasty!

After a day spent gardening, enjoying the weather, enjoying the sunset from the living room if you are not too hungry what the best thing you can do? Share dinner…spaghetti alla bolognese in one plate with two forks … THAT’S AMORE.

Everywhere today has a different name, Shrove Tuesday, Pancake Day, Mardi Gras…I just know it’s FAT TUESDAY and I’m on a fricking diet!

21 Feb

After 4 days of indulging and enjoying the time in Italy with my family and friends, yesterday I came back home to my husband, left a rainy Milan, got on the busiest Easyjet flight ever…does anybody work on a Monday afternoon instead than flying from Milan to London??

Came back to my gorgeous husband who bought for me a frog made of soap…I love frogs!!

Plus he cooked for me sausages and mash…just to go back to the British traditions, trouble is…I’m getting old, and despite my high metabolism I’m putting some weight on and I’m not happy. I’m probably 2 kilos more than my right weight…please do not slag me off I know it’s nothing but…I’m going to be in my bikini in 13 days lying down overlooking Downtown Miami so…I want my perfect weight back!

That’s why I just came back from the gym where I sweated my ass off on the crossramp…hopefully I’m going to lose weight not become a mini body builder with thick thighs … I just need to focus less on food and focus more on the gym and diet…without becoming like her!

BUT I am struggling today, it’s Martedi Grasso, or Fat Tuesday and I miss my Aunt Tina’s chiacchiere…and I miss dress up, and I miss the Carnival in Venice…OMG!!

Right…Anna just focus…and think about dinner time!!!

Sleeping in an Italian bed while dreaming in English! That’s what happened to me last night!

21 Dec

I was exhausted, I really was. Yesterday I had an early start to go to the airport to fly back home,  landed in Milan, got on the train to go to my brother’s house and at 11am I finally arrived after my nearly 6hours journey!

I got there and my little niece was there, being very happy after I gave her a new Kitty…she was so happy and chatty yesterday!

My mum made me the breakfast of the champions, freshly squeezed orange juice, grapes and a Panini with salame, welcome home!!!!

After lunch…god bless my mum’s lasagne, I fell asleep cuddling the new kitty, later on we left to go to see my birthday’s cousin, 15 years old I cannot believe! Visited my aunt’s floral shop and I have been welcomed by thr gorgeous Isotta…she was missing me! 🙂

Felt so tired all day….dinner, and at 10pm I was in bed, my lovely Italian queen bed!! (a Californian one wouldn’t fit in my bedroom) and I slept and slept, for nearly 13 hours! Another day today, still haven’t got any plans apart seeing my friends tonight, I do miss my lovely husband, but it’s so damn good being back home!

I wish an amazing day to everyone!…I might go for a sun bed…looking like a ghost right now! 😉

Countdown to Christmas…

23 Nov

What a day….I couldn’t even get up this morning, I felt so tired and powerless…looked out of the window and I thought to be in Milan, I couldn’t see a thing, the fog is so thick today and still…I cannot see what’s on the other side of the garden!

I had to fight the traffic, 10 minutes to do 1mile…not too bad then…no parking spaces at my usual car park in station, went to check the other one…no one space was free + 12 spaces have been taken away to do some sort of road works or to cut the trees from the wall behind…thanks bloody National Railway system, 50 pounds a month to park my bloody car and no spaces are available, I didn’t check the train timetable but I’m sure because the fog all the trains could have been delayed…damn it.

By the way I’m back home, chilling and thinking in a few days we can start the countdown to Christmas!!! I’m happy because I will go back home the 21 or 22 December, I will spend time with my friends my family and my gorgeous niece Martina and the 26 evening I will come back, celebrate Christmas with my husband…and the 28 December we will leave again to go to Miami and to Barbados, the proper honeymoon time….I cannot wait.

I love buy Christmas presents for my family and friends but I’m not too bothered about what I’m going to receive, at the end of the day Christmas has become just a commercial occasion to spend money and we don’t even know the real meaning of the festivity…but whatever…

If I could make a wish list, even an impossible one…this will be on my list:

I would love a new Louis Vuitton bag, costumized with Mon Monogram

Or in this color…

I know I’m old enough, but I would like to receive the Hello Kitty Vans…

I don’t know if this image is real or not, but if I know Christian Louboutin created this…well I want them!

I think the previous one looks better…but still cool!

What about an Hello Kitty dress….? just kidding, only LADY GAGA  rocks in a dress like that!

what else? …. I don’t know…move to Florida maybe?

Have a good day everyone!

I might have fallen in love…
