Taking cooking really seriously, spending lots of time with the puppy and dreaming a get away in10 days…the latest updates

20 May

Dear readers

Time is never enough and sometimes I just struggle a bit to find 15 minutes to sit down in front of my laptop to do some writing (I am taking advantage of the moment now that the dog is asleep!)

So…what’s up you guys? I have been in England for over 3 weeks and I feel it…I feel like escaping again! All I think about right now is to take care of Coco…who’s 6 months today!

I think about cooking all the time (and I wonder why I can get rid of those two kilos more on my body)…I think about going out for long walk on Brighton beach (If only the weather could be on my side)…and I can’t stop thinking about that in 10 days I am off to Miami again, oh yeah!!

We had a very busy weekend to prepare a dinner party here at home, Italian dinner party to be precise, and my lasagne as usual came out perfect! I am bit surprised about how good  is my husband when he is cooking, he made Sicilian style arancini (rice balls with minced meat and breadcrumbs)…I am starting to doubt his citizenship!!

We kept low profile for a few days but now that’s the weekend in Miami baby!

10 Mar

Hello guys,

Sorry for the delay on posting on the blog but we had quite a few kind of busy day, my husband unfortunately got food poisoning on Tuesday and he has started to feel better yesterday, so no eating and drinking out, keeping low profile and wait for him to recover completely, bless him! The weather hasn’t been good either for a few days so it wasn’t that bad not being able to do things around! But now it’s the weekend, the sun is shining and we are in Miami, how can it be better than this? I’m going to show you some pictures of the past few days!

Cold weather, I’m bored, so why not think about food? As if I never think about food! Turning into a foodie in the wonderland

8 Feb

I must say I have started to enjoy so much the food section on WordPress, it makes me hungry just looking at and I keep on going, blog from blog…what is it wrong with me? Is it an Italian thing, am I getting old or what? I used to laugh at my parents and their friends when I was young and we were going in holiday in Liguria (homeland of Pesto), the town where we have our apartment has a nice high street promenade with designer shops and lots of deli (gastronomia), cheese shops, spit chicken roast shop (polleria), take away pizza slice (pizza al trancio) and even more shops that probably I forgot they exist, in the afternoon we used to go shopping and every food shop I had to shout to my parents and their friends “Come on How can you stare at food in a window?? Let’s go to see some shoes!”

But during the summer 2010 my world felt like it was turning upside down: I went back there  with my husband and walking around the shops, we did the same thing my parents and their friends were doing ages ago…staring at the deli’s window! So because I mentioned, I’d like to bring back some memories from that holiday.

Must be an Italian thing, must be a British thing I don’t know…but I cannot think about nothing else than: What shall I cook? Or shall we watch Masterchef, or Jamie Oliver, or Gordon Ramsay or Lorraine Pascale?

So, let’s face it, it’s freezing today and not even a bit of sunshine to light up  this Wednesday, zero degrees or 32 F…and not much going on, so shall I show you my latest creations? Why not?

Green soup from last night (courgette, green peas, cucumber and lemon thyme

My traditional lasagne (with a bit of chorizo in the meat to give that right kick)

And today for lunch, I fancied omelette, first one I make in my life…I didn’t look good but I assure you it was tasty (omelette with cheddar cheese, chorizo and tomatoes)

Feeling full now…cuddling up with my blanket on the sofa, cup of tea on the table…and looking at the wordpress food section…love being at home!

I’m sorry if I’m not so cheerful sometimes, I hope I am not upsetting someone! Another day in my wonderland of muscular pain

7 Feb

According to my husband, the post I wrote yesterday was funny but he asked me to write a more cheerful one today…I cannot control my mood swings I’m afraid, I just write following how I feel day by day (I don’t even have pms right now so I don’t know what he means…)!

By the way I’m not very cheerful today, I thought joining the gym was going to makes me happy and fit…well had the moment unfortunately it gave me only muscular pain in chest and back, so from today on my menu I will have lots of ibuprofen (3 times a day) for at least five days, and no exercise at the gym for my arms … thanks bloody rowing machine!

So that’s why I am drinking my sorrows away with Ceylon tea and ibuprofen all day…thanks!

The only consolation is my cooking is getting better and better apparently, last night I made a mushrooms, tomatoes and cheddar soup and it was very successful, what’s on the menu tonight?

While I work from my desk upstairs I thought about…lasagne! And of course when you propose to someone: Shall we eat pasta tonight or shall I cook lasagne? I can see the shape of lasagne in my husband’s eyes like Scrooge Mcduck….by the way Paperon de Paperoni in Italian sounds better!!!

So…let’s go again to the supermarket then!

By the way…I cannot get rid of this song from my brain today…I know I don’t agree with toyboys as you have already discovered while reading my blog, but I do love boybands! Here we are with…

Cause you’ve got that one thing

So get out, get out, get out of my head
And fall into my arms instead
I don’t, I don’t, don’t know what it is
But I need that one thing…silly me!!!

My lucky post number 100??? So much to look forward to!

19 Dec

It’s going to be big; it’s going to be good. I cannot believe I am writing my post number 100!! Someone must be bored, someone maybe still enjoys my blog.

I just do this for the pleasure of writing, still hoping that my written English is good enough to be understood! I am still recovering from the fun weekend, trying to wash the alcohol away with plenty of Earl Grey Tea, it’s my last day at work and I have so much to look forward to:

1. Flying back to Italy tomorrow

2. Spend my day with my gorgeous niece, my brother and my parents

3. See my friends

4. Spend Christmas with my family

5. Come back on Boxing day evening and celebrate Christmas with my gorgeous husband

6. Flying to Miami

7. Spend New Year’s eve in Miami

8. Flying to Barbados for our late honeymoon on the 4th January

9. Enjoy Barbados (hopefully we are going to meet Rihanna!)

10. Enjoy more days in Miami

Do you think have I got enough to look forward to? I hope so!

Office Christmas lunch today and tonight a good dinner with my husband based on my special homemade Lasagne, wash down with some good Prosecco!

Have a good day everyone! xxx

It’s Friday… I’m in love

2 Sep

Friday afternoon, 3.40pm, the best time ever to finish at work when you’re going to start your holiday, priceless!!

Friday the 2nd of September has been a good day for me, woke up happy and positive (despite the PMS 🙂 ) went to work, went shopping on my lunch time and I even found a skater dress to wear tomorrow in Miss Selfridge, quite happy about! I’m in charge to cook my famous lasagne tonight for dinner, my mother in law is coming over and with my best dish I never make a mistake! Wedding day tomorrow, Sunday relax and packing and Monday we’re off!

You can see the Miss Selfridge dress, it’s very basic but I’m planning to add an elastic belt, biker boots and leather jacket…it’s not going to be an ordinary wedding at the end of the day!

Have a great weekend you all 🙂
