From Miami to Lake Como via the Kingdom! The latest from Anna in her wonderland

9 Dec

Dear readers

I have just arrived back from a lovely weekend back home in italy, which I have been secretly plotting it for months with my mum and my cousins as it was my dad’s 70th birthday: we just wanted to surprise him with arriving back home without him knowing it, and I must say the surprise came out perfect and we all had a great time, my italian family all together and for once with my husband and mother in law, we all had a blast!

Too much but too good food and the company was great, we couldn’t have asked for more, gorgeous sunny and cold days where we have been going around Bergamo, my hometown and Lake Como, where four years ago we tied the knot, great times!

We have just came back from two weeks in the Floridian sunshine and it was nice just to be home for a week before jetting off again, while getting ready for Christmas at the same time and getting some cooking and baking done in the meantime…but I am sure the pictures speak for themselves

I will be again in Italy to celebrate Christmas with my family and soon after that off to Miami again to celebrate the new year….FELIZ NAVIDAD to everybody!!!

Birthday dinner, lunches, dinners, trip to Lake Como, rabbit and polenta, family gathering, take away pizza, prosecco, aperitif board…welcome to my amazing and beautiful country!

Just pointing out some of the local delicacies we have been eating in the past few days, first of all my favourite dish ever is Casoncelli all bergamasca, meat stuffed ravioli with butter, sage and bacon...homemade by my aunt and my mum…. two dishes for me at lunchtime, too tasty to leave it!

from Miami to Lake Como via the Kingdom_IMG_12cvbn28_1024

Second I love to pick up these amazing dessert every time I visit Bergamo alta, they are called Polenta and Osei because they look like the dish you would eat as your sunday roast, translated into polenta and birds, a sugar and marzipan heaven!

from Miami to Lake Como via the Kingdom_IMG_1217_1024s

I cannot not mention the delicious Pizzoccheri della valtellina, buckwheat pasta with cheese, greens, potatoes, butter and garlic….a must for our big family gathering on sunday lunchtime!

from Miami to Lake Como via the Kingdom_IMG_1207c_1024

And last, but not because less important, this is by far my favourite “second” choice for a meal. I was brought up to eat polenta and coniglio every sunday so this is so perfect and so tasty for me, yes I am talking about Rabbit and polenta! My husband will not eat it…but every time I go back home this dish is on our menu!

And more about our trip to Miami and Key West, road tripping, power boating, having fun with good friends, happy hours, seven years anniversary for us and lots of good times!

Long time no see! Anna is back, catching up on the summer and on the latest adventures

23 Oct

Dear Readers

it has been over two months since my last post, which was totally wedding planning related after the beautiful wedding I organised for my clients on the shores of Lake Como,I am still living all the memories of that beautiful day and I am so grateful that I finally received yesterday all the official pictures, looking forward to update my website now!

My summer has been busy between trips to Italy, Miami and Formentera and I finally have some time now to share the latest after such a long time.

I do love my blog and I do love when I people send me emails asking about it and why I don’t post that often but as you guys all know, I am not a:

Fashion Blogger (I wish…and I might try!)

or

Food blogger (I just love cooking)

but I am a bit of “everything goes and I talk about everything” blogger and sometimes I don’t always feel like sharing everything, especially things that goes on in your life… that’s why I don’t post as often and it goes by a few months sometimes between blog posts, but I am here, writing with my new MacBook air, so let’s make the most of it.

Apart from organising the wedding this summer I spent time in Miami with my husband and friends, I went to Formentera with my two best friends, where I totally left my heart…what a beautiful and amazing place to relax and have fun! More italian trips for my birthday and my husband’s birthday down on the Italian riviera, where I turned 31… (where is the turn back time button? I need one!) and more Miami time in September with my husband…we have been back for a month and it feels already like a lifetime!

I am still obsessed with cooking and baking as always, thank God for my great metabolism otherwise I would look like a barrel with all the cooking I get involved in…still totally obsessed with online shopping, please take all the devices away from me (and delete my paypal account!) and Coco, my furry companion, she is always by my side and she might raise to stardom soon, as we were called to go for an interview and photoshoot for a dog’s disease awareness campaign in London…watch this space!!

I am going to add some recent pictures and … keep in touch!!

Have a great weekend

I left my heart on Lake Como, once again! Wedding planning is the way forward, amazing wedding for my clients

31 Jul

Dear Readers

I haven’t been around for a few months and I apologise for that, I did not forget my blog but unfortunately the last few months have been quite busy with travelling and wedding planning and now I am back. I spent 9 days in Italy last week to attend and coordinate the wedding of my British clients which it was absolutely AMAZING!!!

Villa del Balbianello and Lido di Lenno on Lake Como (not far from Laglio, George Clooney’s town) are stunning and the ceremony, the food, the cake, the flowers and the party were incredible, worth the hard months of planning, I just published the THANK YOU to all the suppliers on my website Italianweddinginwonderland.com but I am going to do it here too to give them the visibility they deserve

Maia and Ricky’s wedding, Villa del Balbianello and Lido di Lenno (Lake Como, Italy)

I am so proud to have organized the wedding of Maia and Ricky, a lovely young couple from Brighton, parents to their little gorgeous daughter India, who contacted me in April 2014 when they were travelling around the lake Como seeking for their perfect wedding venue to tie the knot. We have been working closely together in the past 15 months with emails, phone calls and meetings (where I enjoyed cuddle up with India while talking about wedding planning).
Balbianello lake como Italian wedding (2)For their wedding venue they have chosen Villa del Balbianello, a stunning villa that was built in 1787 on the site of a Franciscan monastery for the Cardinal Angelo Maria Durini. After the cardinal’s death in 1796 Giuseppe Arconati Visconti bought the villa and made improvements to its gardens and the loggia. In the nineteenth century the villa belonged to the Porro-Lambertenghi family. By the early twentieth century the buildings had fallen into a state of neglect when an American businessman, Butler Ames, purchased and renovated the villa and its garden. In 1974 it was bought by the explorer Guido Monzino (leader of the first Italian expedition to climb Mount Everest), who filled it with rich collections, including artifacts acquired on his expeditions. Monzino, who died in 1988, left the villa to the Fondo per l’Ambiente Italiano, the National Trust of Italy. Famous too for its “role” on films including A month by the lake (1995), Casino Royale (2006). The villa was also used for the lake retreat scenes in Star Wars: Episode II Attack of the Clones (2002) however CGI was used in place of the building’s true exterior.

Balbianello lake como Italian wedding (4)The bride and the groom spent some days around Tremezzo and Lenno back in 2014 when the bride was pregnant looking for wedding venues and by recommendation of a restaurant owner from Tremezzo (thanks to Alex at the Red and White restaurant), they visited Balbianello and they fell in love for it and they decided they big day was going to be there.

Balbianello lake como Italian wedding (3) The catering has been provided by Lido di Lenno, restaurant, bar and club situated just 2 minutes boat ride from Balbianello, venue chosen by the bride and groom to carry on the wedding party after the ceremony and wedding breakfast at the historic villa. I must admit as a foodie I loved spending my time translating wedding menus for my clients, I also had the pleasure to travel to Como with the bride in May to do the food tasting and the food was superb, on the tasting day and even better on the wedding day. The staff at Lido di Lenno is truly professional, precise, friendly and accommodating to all our requests, and I will look forward to work with Diego, Nathalie and their team again in the future and recommend them to all my future clients interested in the Lake Como area.

Balbianello lake como Italian wedding (5) A huge thanks to Pasticceria Ramperti located in Cermenate (Como) for the stunning looking and tasty wedding cake for my clients. For who doesn’t know this patisserie is very well known, not for nothing George Clooney asked them to make his wedding cake for his Venetian wedding to Amal Clooney, née Alamuddin.

The photographer who worked closely with Maia and Ricky is the British photographer Philip Bedford based in Brighton, who flew the day before the wedding day and captured precious moment of the wedding preparation at the Grand Hotel Tremezzo and in the stunning setting of Villa del Balbianello.

Balbianello lake como Italian wedding (7) A big thank you for the flowers arrangement made by Barbara Botta Fiori, flower designer based in Cernobbio (Como), the bride wanted a rustic theme using sunflowers and the bouquet, the bridesmaids bouquets and the center tables were absolutely stunning and they worked so well with the casual yet sophisticate style of their wedding.

A big thanks to the Ufficio di stato civile at Tremezzina town hall especially to Paola Codara, who has been so understanding and thanks for all your help with the wedding procedure and a huge thanks to Rita Annunziata, the official translator/tourist guide who translated the ceremony with the bride and groom, adding a touch of Italian fun to the day.

Balbianello lake como Italian wedding (1)

I must mention the boat transfer service provided by Igor De Ascentis, who brought the groom and groomsmen and bride and bridesmaids from Lenno main square to Villa del Balbianello in a wooden boat which gave such a great touch to the whole wedding, and thanks a lot to his colleague Daniel Carminati to have taken all the 60 + guests including me to the venue and back for a mini lake trip before kick starting the party at Lido di Lenno.

Balbianello lake como Italian wedding (7) I am sure I have forgotten someone and if I did please forgive me, I am so pleased about how this stunning wedding turned out, the weather was amazing and we were very lucky despite the weather forecast, I am so pleased to have met and to be now in contact with so many nice people, all so helpful and friendly, I couldn’t have asked for a better experience on the shores of Lake Como, where four years ago I got married myself. And what’s better than receive a call from my bride a few days after who said:

“Anna, thank you, Friday was the best day of my life”. Well, this is the biggest satisfaction.

Will be back soon, busy wedding planning on Lake Como!

Dear readers

As usual I am really late at posting updates on the blog, sorry guys I lose track of time sometimes! I spent a week in Italy with my family checking out wedding venues for my next bride and groom to be, so pleased to have had the chance to go over the beautiful Lake Como again, work meeting pleasure is always the way forward! And I spent the weekend enjoying time with the family, going clubbing on the other lake, Lake Garda, relaxing and having fun… sometimes just a few days home recharge my batteries so much to keep on going better and stronger!

Back home I keep on feeling like I need to cook and bake all day, yesterday for example I wasn’t feeling my best but suddenly after dinner I thought..I fancy a cake! Opened the fridge, found two large oranges, butter, yogurt and eggs…one hour later we were all eating orange cake!

I have had my family over last weekend where we spent a nice day in Brighton on a beautiful sunny day, shame Coco is in season and we were chased by male dogs on the seafront…and shame a few days after going back into Brighton I curbed my wheel very badly…my husband wasn’t impressed as you all can imagine, my excuse was “I have had the car for 4 months and this is the first time, I am doing quite alright for myself!”

Anyway I felt boring last week so I decided to change my look, so short bob hairstyle with blonde highlights, I am only a month and eleven days from turning 30…I am probably experiencing a beginning of midlife crisis…and between a cup of tea and a walk with the dog we are getting ready for the next Miami trip, only ten days to go!

Have a good week everybody

2 years of being married, hot British summertime in progress, a blogging competition won, good weekend just flew by and I am going to fly away on Monday again!

16 Jul

happy second wedding anniversary

Hello dear readers

I cannot believe I have been married for 2 years already! Lots of friends texted me and messaged me on facebook today to remind me our gorgeous wedding day on Lake Como…as someone suggested we should all go back there for a party to celebrate…do you think George Clooney will be so kind to hand me the keys of his villa? I wish!!!

We had such a good weekend  celebrating the combined stag and Hen do of a couple of friends, we watched the polo match, we drank, we danced…and we did sweat a lot, I can’t complain anymore about the British weather then! Sunday was a heavy day standing up all day at Goodwood Festival of Speed…I walked so far around the show that at one stage my right ankle got so swollen I could barely walk….hopefully not a beginning of cankles please!!

I woke up on Monday with the news that I have won the blogging competition set up by Milla Grace, a gourgeous boutique in Brighton so, really pleased with myself I went into town to meet the owners and collect my prize, a beautiful Trim detail jacket in mint from Almost Famous…I am so happy and I want to thanks Milla Grace and wishing all the best to this newly open boutique in the heart of the Brighton Lanes!!!

Easy week ahead just to enjoy the sunshine and off again on Monday for two weeks with the family in Miami…but let’s show you some pictures of the weekend!

Our big fat Easter weekend, in Italy! Milano, Bergamo, Lecco, Lake Como…the only ways!

11 Apr

I am really sorry I haven’t blogged for so many days and I apologise for that. After a long Italian weekend spent with my family in Italy we are now back in England, or shall I say wonderland? I can see so many rabbits around the garden that I have started to think if I follow one I will arrive in wonderland…one cute one yesterday was staring at me close to the front door…FOLLOW ME!

Going back to the Italian weekend…it was great, so much love from my family, so much good times, so many beautiful places and so much food!!!! Have a look through the pictures….and enjoy your week!

Left on good Friday, enjoying the lounge at the airport

Saturday shopping in Milan

Saturday night, aperitif in Lecco overlooking the Lake Como and Dinner on the lake (Oliveto Lario)

Easter Day, in my town with my parents

Ate too much but we couldn’t resist to a pizza in Bergamo!

Forgot to mention, we went to see the wedding photographer…have you seen in the window?

Easter monday, or Pasquetta, out for lunch with the family, uncles, aunt, cousins, red wine and lots of food again!

So what now? WE ARE ON A DIET!!!

One day…

25 Oct

One day, just one day. You plan this day for so long, sometimes up to a year. The day comes, you are so stressed to have everything perfect, and it goes so quickly and beautifully, as planned. But when is over, you have so many good memories and finally, three months and nine days later, I have the official pictures!!!!!

You will find some pictures in the top section The W Day, thanks to everyone who supported us on the 16th July!

My heart’s a stereo

23 Oct

Another beautiful day in the countryside, 17 degrees, sunny and lovely, shame to be on my own to enjoy it! I satisfied all my cravings of the weekend (please PMS leave me alone…), this morning I went to buy the paper and I headed to the tea room in Ditchling for a full English breakfast…small size!

Really satisfied  now, all my cravings are gone and now I have only to wait for my parents to land at 6pm tonight, cannot wait!

Just went for a drive on my husband’s RS3 with this song at full volume, why am I so obsessed with this song??

My heart’s a stereo
It beats for you, so listen close
Hear my thoughts in every no-o-o-te
Make me your radio
And turn me up when you feel low
This melody was meant for you
Just sing along to my stereo

Forgot to say, my parents are coming over with all my wedding  pictures, only 930 something to go through! I have some preview pictures…about a small accident I had just before getting married…poor jimmy choo’s shoes!
