Two months to Christmas let’s begin the countdown! Obsessed with nails, baking and dogs right now!

25 Oct

Dear readers

I popped into the local garden center a few days ago and I was shocked when Christmas trees, Christmas decorations and lights were in display, how does the time go? I can’t believe we are only two months away, maybe the mild temperatures we are experiencing at the moment don’t struck me like Jingle Bells and Feliz Navidad songs just yet!

Since the last trip away I am all about cooking, as usual, diligently going to the gym twice a week (rather strange for me!) and despite I was never that bothered before since my birthday I have become obsessed with nails and since I started to have my manicure done with Shellac, oh my a new world opened for me and my nails say thanks a lot!

I have been biting my nails on an off basically all my life and to find an nail polish that lasts and makes my nail stronger, it was a revelation!!

I am still cooking and baking a lot, experimenting and sometimes I even follow recipes fully, which is quite a novelty for me, I do like add my own taste to things! And can you believe that in less than a month Coco is going to be 2 years old? She is still a crazy dog, eating everything she finds around (a few days ago was my usb key, business cards, lip balm…and of course plastic bottles ), I must say it is a joy to have her around that she makes my day always happy!

Have a great weekend everybody

annainherwonderland Miami september post (32)

Dear readers

The weekend is over, summer is over, autumn/fall is here and I suddenly feel cold, fancying a glass of red wine in the evening and to have the log fire on, soon without even noticing it will be Halloween and soon enough even Christmas, where does the time fly all the time??

Miami seems a long time ago, the weather unfortunately wasn’t the best in September, as our friends say “ You bring the rain over from England every time”…not fun!

Now we are back in the country to be reunited with coco, to carry on wedding planning projects, to bake a lot and to wait for the next trip…here you can see some pictures of the vacation, while wait for the next one where my best friend will join us, and I cannot wait!

A few more days in the countryside before fly away again, being an housewife full time, still baking a lot and…being obsessed with my new iPhone!

annainherwonderland - iphone5s post (4)

Hello readers

If I could just speak with hash tags this post will be called #annainherwonderland #hasdiscovered #newhorizons ….yes I finally stepped into the future…I gave up my Blackberry for the new iPhone 5s and I absolutely love it!!!

annainherwonderland - iphone5s post (1)

My poor husband is quite traditional and not as open as me to change phones, to use tablets and general technology speaking… after a few looks at the iPhone and after a few touches of the screen said: It’s like a mini iPad!

My reply was a bit like “which came first, the chicken or the egg?”

The iPhone clearly! 🙂

annainherwonderland - iphone5s post (1)

Anyway, apart play all day with my iThings (still a definition from my husband) I am working on another wedding in Tuscany, which makes me really excited, we are changing a few bits around at home and I am intrigued by interior design, furniture shops and so on…I keep busy with the dog, as usual, and my food and baking obsession hasn’t stopped…luckily I am still firm on my 50 kilos! I am trying to enjoy the time here as much as I can, until the next trip planned in a few weeks, which I can’t wait for! Ten days in Miami with our good friends, it’s going to be good!

Plus I have so many things to look forward to

  • Miami trip
  • My best friend is coming to visit
  • 10 days in Italy for Christmas

I love the Christmas season, I am already thinking which decorations to go for the tree, I have already made a list of presents for family and friends, and I must be honest, I have already the Christmas cards sorted…call me super organized…or say that I haven’t got a damn to do all day, your choice!!!

My week in wonderland, spring weather instead than fall weather, long walks, baking, cooking and what else? Of course keep up with Coco!

7 Oct

Dear readers,

I hope you all had a nice weekend, it has been nearly ten days since I come home from Miami and it feels like I have been back for ages, but for once I am not complaining right now, the British weather is still really mild for the time a year and I am enjoying long walks with my loyal companion Coco, baking sessions, shopping trips and gym workouts (well I had one so far…give me the chance please!)

After been sweating a lot in Miami two weeks ago it’s quite nice sometimes to wear a cashmere jumper in the evening, cuddle up on the sofa with a glass of red wine….and I look forward to have the fire on!

My food obsession has reached a scary level and I do not know why, I spend hours looking at recipes, I started to bake apple crumbles and apple pies thanks to our endless stock of apples from our trees, I even attempted my first Victoria Sponge cake…even my husband couldn’t believe that I follow every single step of the recipe…apart the double cream…well I whipped lightly…probably too lightly but it will be better next time!

I have been thinking for over a year to start to collect my recipes  and write them on a book or because I hate follow recipes I should call it scrapbook… what do you reckon guys? Anna and her reinvented Italian recipe book, with British, Spanish and Cuban influences …if I get bored I will start to!

Here we are some pictures…

Have a great week guys!

The role of the desperate housewife, between happiness and anger, mood swings and hysterical situations and you wonder why we are desperate!!! Let’s open the respect campaign

3 Apr

happy housewife

–          Hi, what do you do for living?

–          I am a housewife but I have a blog to take care of, a small wedding business and I write freelance for some magazines…

–          Ok you said housewife first so you don’t do much…

–          F*** you!

queen_bitch

I think if someone wanted to interview me this how an interview could go, guys I had enough.

Just because you don’t work from 9 to 5 in one office in the middle of town, they put you on the cross like Jesus, yeah whatever housewife but do you do? You don’t even have kids!

Every life seen from outside looks just roses and flowers, people don’t think that everyone can have ups and downs, this is life guys it happens all the time, it just depends how the events in life affect you, if you let the others get you down or not.

keep-calm-and-show-me-respect-3

I came back yesterday from a few days back home and I discovered talking with someone

–          Oh by the way be careful because those people think you are just a bitch that got married for money…

I couldn’t stop myself laughing…and my friend said

–          Why do you laugh? You should be careful!

–          I laugh because I don’t care what people think of me and it makes me laugh how people can describe someone without even know the person mentioned, is funny right? I am a bitch? Well f*** them then!

You are just a housewife, you probably go to the gym every day, going for manicures and lunches out, you don’t clean and you probably don’t even cook…yeah whatever!

black-and-white-dunny-housewife-quote-sarcasm

I go to the gym every 2/3 weeks, and if I do more than 5 minutes of rowing machine I dislocate my shoulder (true, it happened to me 3 weeks ago!), I go for manicures probably every 3/4 months (if I am lucky, the nail vanish stays on my nails one day and half before chipping for all the cleaning. Or worse I pick my nails because I get stressed!)

housewife and laundry

Lunches out…when? I live in the countryside not in Kings Road in London, without have to highlight again that the Brits ain’t that friendly to meet up new people to go out for lunch, but it will make me very boring and repetitive! I do clean…a lot! What would you do if you have carpet everywhere and one fluffy and chubby cat and a dog? You would use the vacuum every day wouldn’t you? No of course, it makes me a mad person right? This is my husband’s statement!

dishes or daiquiri

Cooking…I do cook and I love cooking! I am not that good at baking but I am trying to improve myself…I think I should become the major shareholder of the local supermarket because I am there literally every day!

stressed is desserts

Just because I go away a lot doesn’t make me a useless bitch does it? I am not out from one of those stupid tv series like Big Rich Texas or the Real Housewives of Wherever …so please show some respect…BITCHES!!!

An apple a day keeps the doctor away…is this working even for Apple products?? Obsessed with my latest gadget…and I got lost in translation!

10 Oct

Hello readers,

I am really sorry that I couldn’t update the blog in the past few days, I have been running errands every day, I have been working, I have been cooking, I have been baking…and I have fallen in love for my new iPad…I am like a child on Christmas day sometimes! (by the way only 75 days till Christmas!!!)

I have been going back and forth from Brighton to attend some meetings, yesterday facing the horrible rainy day, today I have been facing a nice sunshine, I hit the high street on lunchtime but unfortunately I haven’t been successful…I might need to arrange a day out somewhere for a proper shopping spree, up to London would be nice!

Autumn is here, the leaves are falling down from the tree, the garden and the fields around are changing into nice colors and this “season changing” time makes me feel like to wear my apron all day long and cook until dawn….soups, starters, mains, cupcakes….my new idol of the week at the moment is Nigella Lawson…and I even decided if I am ever going to speak English with a British accent…well I want to speak like her!!

Oh my…there is only thing I am dreading about right now…having my refurbished wheels back on my car….S.O.S!!!!

The working desperate housewife is going to be off for nearly 3 weeks, God she needs a vacation…or 2!!!

10 Jun

Time is up for me, on Tuesday I will start my 3 weeks off, first step is going back home to visit my family in Italy, and maybe spend the weekend on the Italian Riviera, second step will be come back to England next Monday evening….and leave Tuesday morning to go to Miami!!!! And next Thursday we will be off to Bahamas by boat (motion sickness tablets, valium tablets and a drink for the journey for me!), Bimini here we come!

Right, I haven’t started to pack yet but I will very soon, in the past few days I have just been working, shopping (food shopping), cleaning, washing, ironing, cooking, cleaning again….my husband is sad that I’m leaving him at home, he will miss the official chef (plenty of portions of lasagne in the freezer I’m sure he will be fine!)

So next time I will post it will be from Italy…I can’t wait! Enjoy your weekend!

Today is one of those days…

28 Feb

Today is one of those days…you have everything you want, everything you need, but, there is a but…there is that shadow of “I’m not completely 100% happy because something does not go as planned”. Nothing to do with love, nothing to do with family, nothing to do with health, just something…that bothers you.

But I take this is life, isn’t it? Trouble is I haven’t got an “in between” status, I’m black or white, I’m so happy or so sad, I’m so sweet or I’m so bitch, or as Katy Perry would say I’m so hot or so cold, yes or no, in or out, up or down…

So, why don’t I talk about something that can cheer me up? Let’s talk about food then! I bought for Valentine’s Day an Italian recipe book for my husband but I must admit that I’m using it quite a lot…last night at the Collins’s House we had mushrooms stuffed with gorgonzola and honey, thanks Gino D’acampo! Followed by turkey breast in breadcrumbs with lentils in a curry sauce…let’s plan another dish then..I think somehow I was born wearing an apron!

Workout, cleaning, painting, planning a dinner…and people think I do don’t a damn all day long!!

31 Jan

Being at home and a full time housewife seems an easy life, getting up late, going out for lunch, go to the beauty salon, cook something for dinner, well it’s not what I do!!!

I forced myself today and at 12.30 after have been working and cleaning I decided to hit the gym for my first session!!! Still have a bit of a cold but I’m getting better, my first 35 minutes of workout at the gym today I couldn’t believe! I do feel great now, but I’m sure I will be in pain tomorrow!

My husband asked me to do some paint, which I did, and now I was scrolling through recipe books to decide what to cook tonight, It’s not even 5pm but just reading through all the recipes I’m feeling so hungry! Luckily I decided to use the upstairs area as my office…because if I was in the kitchen right now I could have already attacked the fridge!

I had a visit this morning….a fox at the front door, I got so scared luckily I was inside! Still cannot get over the fox that last year mauled two babies in East London … ok this fox was tiny but still…I should ask for a rifle for my next birthday, so I can start hunting in the garden…foxes, rabbits, pheasant…Love the British countryside!!!

Have a good evening you all!

Back into business but I’d like to go back to the leisure….

25 Jan

I know that last week I said to the world that I was going to start to write a cooking book…yeah…well unfortunately I have been busy in the last few days that I haven’t had any spare time,  I have started I have to admit that…but I just wrote one recipe…and took some pictures! I have been back in office for 2 days but I will carry on my working leisure life, and I will work on it! I’m even going to visit a gym tomorrow can you believe it? Recently I’m loving my food so much…that’s why I need to work out…I’m not sexy and I know it….need to drop some weight!! Do you want to have  a look at my latest dinners? xxxx
