The puppies diaries part 2: sleepless nights, endless biting, Italian dog sitters, lots of love but I am sorry Coco I need a vacation, roll on Miami next Monday!

11 Feb

Hello readers

Here we are, probably over a week since my last post, very tired indeed today after half sleepless night. Coco decided to start to bark and cry around 5.30am, I was just about to go downstairs to calm her down when I heard the magic noise Coco loves: the food on the scale….the Italian dog sitters (yes, my parents came over to help me out…what’s going to happen when I will have a child??) fed Coco at 5.30am just to keep her quiet…so today Coco has “food jet lag”, she keeps on begging for food at any time!

Do I go out to do a wee and a poo? Well I want a biscuit when I come in or I will bite your toes offnow you wonder why I wear Ugg boots instead than slippers indoors!

Well as you all know I have fallen hard for her, my husband even harder (he went off for a ski trip last week and I swear he missed the dog more than me!) but now I start to feel in a need of a vacation, luckily next Monday we are off to Miami…my mother in law will Cocosit for 10 days…I wish her luck!

I’m sorry all my posts right now have become completely focused on the Dog’s theme…I am promising nice pictures from next week onwards in Florida!

Still living the American dream…or shall I say the Hispanic dream? Back in cold England but still with my soul in Miami!

12 Jan

Hello readers,

I am really sorry to not have updated the blog for nearly two weeks and first of all I wanted to apologize, unfortunately I was in Miami trying to get our perfect house sorted and the neighbours not always were that happy to give us their internet details, what can we do about? Get the internet sorted…as we did!!

First day back home and I feel like I have a massive hangover and I don’t feel like I even know my name right now, I want to leave forever in Eastern time!

Here we are some pictures of the two long weeks away…I am still trying to learn some Spanish but I think I will need to practise a lot more…a mix of Italian-spanish-english is not the way forward!

From bikinis to rain boots, from croissants to Marmite, please take me back to Saint Tropez! One year wedding anniversary to celebrate today!

16 Jul

In the last few days so many things happened and I have been through so many emotions in just a short period of time, Thursday morning I was getting ready for my best friend wedding and I just started to cry, out of the blue, because I am so happy for her found happiness. At the ceremony, I was smiling and clapping my hands when I broke down again…her gorgeous daughters wrote a reading on their own that was so sweet and full of love that made my heart to break, what a wonderful day we had and I wish so much happiness to the newly married!

The day after we had a very early start and left for the south of France for our anniversary weekend in Saint Tropez, it was so good, so much fun, so much good food and great weather that now that we are back I feel so lost! But despite the weather here is horrible and cold, I cannot forget that today we celebrate our first wedding anniversary, how exciting! Better if I start to cook while you check out all the pictures!! Xxx

Friday night in Milan town but what can you do to escape from the heat wave? Italian Riviera here I come! Milan to London, London to Miami and Miami to Bahamas, just to keep myself busy!!

18 Jun

I have enjoyed so much these few days I have spent back home with my family and friends, summer has finally come in the north of Italy and you do feel the heat, a lot! Friday night I travelled to Milan on the train and underground and when I arrived at destination I was covered in sweat!

Friday night we were in Milan in the Navigli area, so cool with so many bars and restaurants and so many people around … trouble is when you wake up on Saturday morning and you see the same area of town completely empty and when you realised that is 10.30am and it’s already 28degrees (or 82.4 F) you understand that it’s time to GET OUT OF HERE!!!

The quick way to escape is to take the motorway, Genova direction and in two hours you are on the seaside, Genova, Recco, Sori, Portofino, Camogli, Chiavari, Sestri Levante….God bless Liguria and its fabulous characteristics!

I spent every single summer of my childhood here with my family, relatives and cousins, and going back there in this gorgeous little town called Sori made me fell in love again for this beautiful part of my country, I have one more kilo on today but I don’t care, how can you not eat fresh fish, trofie al pesto and the amazing Focaccia made in Liguria? You must be crazy!!! Came back last night , just packing my stuff, back to London in a few hours and off we go to Miami tomorrow morning! I missed my husband like crazy but I really enjoyed the time away as well!

The Jubilee weekend is finally over, good fun, good food and good friends, shame it feels more like December than June!

5 Jun

Tuesday night, 9PM, watching TV and collecting a few memories of the good and super long weekend! Thanks to the Queen and to the diamond jubilee this week everyone will have a 3 day week at work which is great! Long weekend spent cooking and drinking with friends…and cuddling the gorgeous daughter of our friends!!!

God bless the Queen, and the long bank holiday!!!

Anna, the useless Domestic Goddess is trying hard to impress…and to not feel that useless!

23 Apr

I am really sorry to have not written for such a long time, nearly a week is too long, this is not what I would normally do…but unfortunately I was a bit down last week so I didn’t want that my problems could affect my writing.

I am absolutely fine , I do just feel very useless right now, I’m not working anymore and sometimes it’s a struggle getting up in the morning, why? What am I going to do today? Not much! It does feel so frustrating thinking…uh…I haven’t got much to think about apart tidy up the house, going to the supermarket and cook dinner! Not having a daily job makes you see things in a different way, I am so glad that when I was feeling low last week my husband and my best friend (and my family from Italy of course) were supporting me and tried to motivate me to look for something new, new experiences, new possibilities but it is not that easy right now in the current climate is it? At the moment probably the only thing in my mind is…food! What shall I cook for dinner? I even baked a cake last week and it came out presentable and tasty!

Shall I open a restaurant?….nah…shall I just keep on cooking and telling you about? Deal then!

Shepherd’s pie can be cook by Italians as well…I am the proof!

A good soup can always warm up your cold wintery evenings

A good experiment, chocolate carrots and walnuts cake

Or a slice of chocolate cheesecake at the local pub tastes so good everytime!

Feel down? Going out for breakfast at the local tea room revives you!

Pancakes anyone? We call them crespelle…mushroom one for me!

Friday night treat? Cupcakes!!! (courtesy of Cloud 9 Brighton)

It’s hard when my husband is better than me at cooking…he should become a chef! Last night lamb in red wine sauce and sundried tomatoes mash potatoes…was so good!

And what about this strawberry cake? Domestic goddess me? Domestic God him!

Back in business, into my kitchen! Surrounded by Hello Kitty Easter eggs and very soon from my family!

4 Apr

I finally started to feel better, my cold has finally abandoned me and my husband with his burnt arm and hand is getting better as well, shame now he has man flu…my fault apparently….MEEEEEEEEEN

By the way I am so glad that Kim is getting over this problem, and I am sure he is never going to use petrol again to lit the bonfire after this accident, his arm speaks for himself

I think we really need and holiday, an Italian one, I cannot wait to go back home on Friday, spend time with my family, go shopping in Milan, see my friends, and go back to eat normally (I finally lost that famous kg I was going on about, but just for the stress!) Now I’m back in the kitchen cooking away and being happy, do you want to see my latest creations?

Salmon fillet with crème fraiche, breadcrumbs and lime with green peas puree with crème fraiche and Thai green curry paste with chestnut mushrooms cooked in honey gorgonzola and brie cheese….what a wonderful dinner!

Yesterday morning I made Frangelico (Italian hazelnut liqueur) tiramisu to go for dinner to my mother in law…WOW it was good!

As you can see everyone know about my passion for Hello Kitty….only Hello Kitty Easter eggs for me so far, my friend Shonda will be happy as well!!! 🙂

And what about my latest discovery? While reading Grazia I came across an article about Pinterest…check me out if you wish!

An Italian weekend in pictures, thanks to my Blackberry!

20120217-191125.jpg. Sorry about the mess of this post… What have I been up to? Lots of food as usual!

I live in a frozen wonderland, please temperatures increase a bit! A frosty weekend in the countryside!

11 Feb

When I woke up this morning it was -5 C, or if you prefer 23 F…it was bitter! Sunny and beautiful day but not that pleasant to be outside, even if we were around shopping! I discovered a town I have never been before not far from where we live, nice high street plus I discovered a good restaurant called Cau, Argentinian steakhouse in the heart of Guildford , a nice burger and a good beer always make me warm!!!

I fancied going out for dinner tonight but it’s already below freezing and I really don’t fancy going out with leggings, jeans, long sleeves t-shirt, jumper, scarf, woolly hat, gloves, Ugg boots…not really a glamorous outfit is it? Luckily I’m not British… I don’t brave the cold with a mini dress and high heels…I’ll leave this to the Essex girls…!! As you can see someone is really that crazy I am not making this up…Maria from Towie…bless you…in a cold and flu way! Pictures from the Daily Mail on line

Night in then…what did I cook last night? Someone has been rude, I made a mushroom’s soup and as you can imagine the colour does not look inviting…but tasty! And spaghetti with prawns garlic tomatoes and green chillies, really spiced up my evening!

Keep on enjoying the weekend please!
