Getting the wedding blogging fever, my latest thing! Anna in her wonderland between wedding planning, food & fitness

6 Feb

Dear readers

I know it has been a long time since my last post but January has been filled with lots of events, good and bad ones that the time just flew away and I finally find myself here at the beginning of February to post again to discuss my latest projects.

Wedding season is going to kick-start soon and it’s time to get ready with my clients to get all the paperwork and the boring bureaucracy part out of the way to focus on the details of the big day, flowers, food, decorations and so on…from this I got contacted by an Italian wedding blog for whom now I am writing tips for the future brides and grooms, it’s so exciting and fulfilling to have free pass to write about anything I want…shame that I do struggle to write the post in English and Italian, the Italian part takes me ages… since when I have nearly forgotten to write in my own language? Crazy!

So if you guys want to read my latest post for the Italian wedding blog Panorama Sposi here we go the links:

First post

Music for your wedding, 12 beautiful songs

Second post

Valentine’s day, love, flowers and a bit of S&M thanks to 50 Shades of grey the movie

This new project is really exciting for me but I haven’t forgotten my first love, my blog anna in her wonderland! Everybody is glad that January is over and despite the cold weather and the sporadic snow sometimes, I am already focusing into spring and I have been exercising a lot, more to keep my mind busy than anything else but it’s working, I feel already better and more full of energy, but so hungry all the time! Luckily I don’t need to lose any weight otherwise it will be a bit pointless do all that exercise and stuff my face after (but in a healthy way!)

Coco my lazy dog is always on my side keeping me company between a nap and the other, luckily I have her next to me!

Well guys I hope you will enjoy my wedding related post on Panorama sposi and have a great weekend you all!

Two months to Christmas let’s begin the countdown! Obsessed with nails, baking and dogs right now!

25 Oct

Dear readers

I popped into the local garden center a few days ago and I was shocked when Christmas trees, Christmas decorations and lights were in display, how does the time go? I can’t believe we are only two months away, maybe the mild temperatures we are experiencing at the moment don’t struck me like Jingle Bells and Feliz Navidad songs just yet!

Since the last trip away I am all about cooking, as usual, diligently going to the gym twice a week (rather strange for me!) and despite I was never that bothered before since my birthday I have become obsessed with nails and since I started to have my manicure done with Shellac, oh my a new world opened for me and my nails say thanks a lot!

I have been biting my nails on an off basically all my life and to find an nail polish that lasts and makes my nail stronger, it was a revelation!!

I am still cooking and baking a lot, experimenting and sometimes I even follow recipes fully, which is quite a novelty for me, I do like add my own taste to things! And can you believe that in less than a month Coco is going to be 2 years old? She is still a crazy dog, eating everything she finds around (a few days ago was my usb key, business cards, lip balm…and of course plastic bottles ), I must say it is a joy to have her around that she makes my day always happy!

Have a great weekend everybody

The Italian week, the wedding planning, the two lakes, the British sea, the Italian family over, the domestic goddess and the next trip to the land of the free and home of the brave, Anna is keeping busy!

8 Jul

Dear readers

As usual I am really late at posting updates on the blog, sorry guys I lose track of time sometimes! I spent a week in Italy with my family checking out wedding venues for my next bride and groom to be, so pleased to have had the chance to go over the beautiful Lake Como again, work meeting pleasure is always the way forward! And I spent the weekend enjoying time with the family, going clubbing on the other lake, Lake Garda, relaxing and having fun… sometimes just a few days home recharge my batteries so much to keep on going better and stronger!

Back home I keep on feeling like I need to cook and bake all day, yesterday for example I wasn’t feeling my best but suddenly after dinner I thought..I fancy a cake! Opened the fridge, found two large oranges, butter, yogurt and eggs…one hour later we were all eating orange cake!

I have had my family over last weekend where we spent a nice day in Brighton on a beautiful sunny day, shame Coco is in season and we were chased by male dogs on the seafront…and shame a few days after going back into Brighton I curbed my wheel very badly…my husband wasn’t impressed as you all can imagine, my excuse was “I have had the car for 4 months and this is the first time, I am doing quite alright for myself!”

Anyway I felt boring last week so I decided to change my look, so short bob hairstyle with blonde highlights, I am only a month and eleven days from turning 30…I am probably experiencing a beginning of midlife crisis…and between a cup of tea and a walk with the dog we are getting ready for the next Miami trip, only ten days to go!

Have a good week everybody

The World Cup, the baking and the travelling…Anna in her wonderland is keeping busy!

15 Jun

Hello dear readers

I am so excited over the World Cup that you will not believe, I don’t normally care about football generally but when the World Cup is on I suddenly feel really excited and I feel for my country even more, especially since I have moved to England over 5 years ago…and how better could have the World Cup started for me? England vs Italy, oh my! Shame that my husband is not into football but it was so much fun to watch the match at home with British friends, I was cheering, I was screaming, I was dancing around…I was so happy that Italy won! And I am so pleased to go to visit my family in Italy this week, I haven’t been back since February and I seriously cannot wait to fly back!

I have started to go back to the gym since the Miami trip, with not much success…while I work out I think what I am going to bake later…is that good or not? And of course cooking is still my main hobby right now, the cashiers at the local grocery store might think I am mad, I keep on going in to get more ingredients for my creations! Anyway the summer is here and I must admit the weather has been great lately; hopefully it will keep on being summer!!

9 May

Dear readers

I don’t know what is wrong with me at the moment, all I want to do is cooking and baking! Maybe somehow I realised that I am quite good at cooking (even my husband casually said “I might let you do the cooking for dinner parties…you are not that bad”…after 5 years of perfect meals on his dinner table!) so probably I feel like experimenting even more…I should start to write that famous recipe book I go on about but I never get around to!

Lots went on recently, work at home has finished and we have a lovely patio so we can be ready to enjoy summer evenings and drinks…hopefully Britain will offer us a good summer!

I have had lots on my plate recently, I have been working on my husband’s website, I have been working on the wedding planning website and seems like clients are coming around now which is great….and on Monday we are off to Miami, what is better than that???

I can show you some of my latest creations and I will blog from the Sunshine State…have a great weekend everybody!!

My food obsession does not want to stop, please take me back to Florida for the stone crab season!

10 Oct

Dear readers

As I was mentioning yesterday I developed  a proper obsession for food, cooking, baking, tasting new flavors, I do not know what goes on my brain (or in my stomach) right now, I was going through my pictures on my laptop and I found there are more pictures of food than pictures of people!

I found some pictures of when me my then husband to be and our friends went for dinner at Joe’s stone crab in Miami (as you can see below) and I suddenly thought, I need to be back, the season is about to start! I discovered that Stone crab is available for harvest between October 15th and May 15th.

stone crab picture

Native to Florida’s Gulf coast, these rare crabs have the unique ability to regenerate their claws and limbs. These delicious claws are always in high demand and are widely regarded as one of the forms of fresh Florida Seafood. Claws are cooked daily in boiling water for 7-10 minutes and cooled to prevent the meat from sticking to the shell. They are then sorted into four sizes: medium, large, jumbo, and colossal.

I discovered this website Uber Stone Crabs so next time I can cut off going to the restaurant, for sure when we go back in Miami in a few weeks with friends I am going to order a truck of stone crab for a dinner party!

Taking cooking really seriously, spending lots of time with the puppy and dreaming a get away in10 days…the latest updates

20 May

Dear readers

Time is never enough and sometimes I just struggle a bit to find 15 minutes to sit down in front of my laptop to do some writing (I am taking advantage of the moment now that the dog is asleep!)

So…what’s up you guys? I have been in England for over 3 weeks and I feel it…I feel like escaping again! All I think about right now is to take care of Coco…who’s 6 months today!

birthday dog coco

I think about cooking all the time (and I wonder why I can get rid of those two kilos more on my body)…I think about going out for long walk on Brighton beach (If only the weather could be on my side)…and I can’t stop thinking about that in 10 days I am off to Miami again, oh yeah!!

Christmas very late edition with some good and old New Year resolution…does it work? It doesn’t for me at all…my disrupted wonderland of broken promises.

16 Jan

I must admit, I am not very good with New Year resolutions…I mean I always mean to keep my word and go for it, but it doesn’t work very well. My last year resolution was to write a recipe book (as you can see in a post I published one year ago)

https://annainherwonderland.com/2012/01/19/recipe-books-and-lifestyle-resolution-whats-going-on-in-my-wonderland/

But the idea got abandoned after my lack of culinary order, I wrote a few recipes and stored them on my laptop but my problem is, I hate follow recipes when I cook because I like to be creative ad change things around…so with this problem I can’t even follow my own recipes and stick with it…LAST YEAR RESOLUTION result: FAILED.

Another last year resolution was to join the gym and go for it: I did join the gym, I did enjoy, I did get back pain and muscle aching, I did go at least twice a week (for 4 or 5 months), but with the new wedding planning business going on and all the traveling…I haven’t put my foot there since end of October, I actually have frozen my membership temporarily  with the aim of starting again in February… LAST YEAR RESOLUTION result: FAILED, AGAIN.

new year resolution

So as you can see I am not very good to keep my own promises but what is the good thing about Christmas and new year (excluding the presents, the industrial quantity of food and drinks eaten and drunk, the few pound put on and the traveling)? The fact that everyone feels more positive to have a new start, even if it doesn’t happen.

As today, I am happy to face the new year with my new gorgeous Louis Vuitton handbag, the Petit Noe’ (thanks to my amazing husband). 2013…the world is ours!

It has been a foodie weekend, for a change! What am I up to? I don’t actually know myself right now!

22 Oct

I just love so much easy weekends, where there is nothing to do, just getting up when it suits me, relax, go out, come back, and cook! Actually our weekend was supposed to be busy, we were supposed to go to the Cotswold to see friends and stay Saturday in their gorgeous cottage in the countryside (last time I went there was Saturday 2nd July last year, I missed Kate Moss wedding lunch to a pub by 10 minutes and I saw John Galliano walking around the high street, that was cool!!!) anyway so there wasn’t much to do, the weather wasn’t that great, as usual, so we just took it easy, breakfast, lunch, dinner, some good movies and a bottle of wine, that’s what you need sometimes. Looking forward to go to Miami in a week, it has been over a month and I cannot wait!!

My weekend, in food pictures

Saturday morning smoothie, before…

and after

The day after it was another story, full English breakfast…in a French restaurant

Roast lamb with vegetables on Sunday night with a nice dessert

Blackberry and apple pie

The pie was made by my husband, I can’t believe how good he is at cooking!!! I am trying to keep myself busy with anything that comes up in my mind right now…but still taking it easy, I must say I haven’t got bored to be a Lady of Leisure yet!!!

Have a great week everyone!!!xxx

An apple a day keeps the doctor away…is this working even for Apple products?? Obsessed with my latest gadget…and I got lost in translation!

10 Oct

Hello readers,

I am really sorry that I couldn’t update the blog in the past few days, I have been running errands every day, I have been working, I have been cooking, I have been baking…and I have fallen in love for my new iPad…I am like a child on Christmas day sometimes! (by the way only 75 days till Christmas!!!)

I have been going back and forth from Brighton to attend some meetings, yesterday facing the horrible rainy day, today I have been facing a nice sunshine, I hit the high street on lunchtime but unfortunately I haven’t been successful…I might need to arrange a day out somewhere for a proper shopping spree, up to London would be nice!

Autumn is here, the leaves are falling down from the tree, the garden and the fields around are changing into nice colors and this “season changing” time makes me feel like to wear my apron all day long and cook until dawn….soups, starters, mains, cupcakes….my new idol of the week at the moment is Nigella Lawson…and I even decided if I am ever going to speak English with a British accent…well I want to speak like her!!

Oh my…there is only thing I am dreading about right now…having my refurbished wheels back on my car….S.O.S!!!!
